Cody Cogswell

Indianapolis-based attorney, Cody Cogswell, is first and foremost a Hoosier. He was born and raised through most of his childhood in Moonville, Indiana on his Grandparents’ and Great Grandparents’ farm. Cody graduated from Anderson High School with an Academic Honors Diploma before attending Ball State University. He graduated from the Political Science Department’s Legal Studies Program at Ball State University and was accepted to Thomas M. Cooley School of Law where he was awarded a Scholarship for Academic Performance. At Cooley Law, he was a member of the U.S. Championship Team for Client Counseling and Graduated Cum Laude with a specialization in Litigation in January of 2012 and shortly thereafter passed the bar and was admitted to practice in Indiana.

Cody worked with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office while attending law school, where he worked with the Indiana Consumer Protection group, specifically in the Identity Theft Division. After graduating Law School and passing the bar Cody passed on several “Big Law” opportunities in Detroit and Indianapolis to return home to Anderson, Indiana where he opened his own practice catering to clients in Marion, Madison, Hamilton, Hancock, and Delaware Counties. During his second year of practice, Cody Cogswell got the honor to teach at his Alma Mater, Ball State University, as an adjunct professor. Cody taught five different classes for the legal studies department over the course of his three-year tenure with the University.

After Establishing a successful practice in Madison County, Cody expanded his offices to Carmel Indiana then ultimately to Fishers Indiana, where he could better serve his clients. In addition to a thriving Family and Criminal Law practice, Cody additionally practices Personal Injury and Estate Law. Throughout his practice- Cody has made sure to share his time with clients who couldn’t otherwise afford his services and accordingly been appointed to hundreds of Civil and Criminal cases as a Public Defender in his home county (Madison). In June 2022, Cody joined the Garrison Law Firm where he continues to practice in a broad spectrum of legal matters.

When not working for his clients, Cody is a very family-centric person, a proud uncle to 3 nephews and 2 nieces. He enjoys Golf, Chess, Poker, Fishing, Boating, and Sports in general. He is an avid Colts fan and can regularly be seen on Autumn Sundays enjoying the game from Lucas Oil Stadium. When not enjoying his family or the game, Cody also enjoys traveling and his friends.

Cody’s focus is “to go the extra mile for his clients” and finds he is “often successful just because he is able to out-work the opposing party”.
