Daycare Deaths and Injuries
We all want our children to be safe and loved when we have to be away from them. Unfortunately, daycare deaths and injuries happen more often than they should. Make sure that you take the time to research your daycare facility and any licenses and accreditations it may have. If your child has been injured or died as a result of a negligent daycare facility, please call our personal injury team today.
THE SCARY FACTS
According to an investigation by the Indianapolis Star, there were 21 reported daycare deaths in Indiana between 2009 and June 2013. As of March 9, 2014, 10 more deaths had been reported.
Shockingly, 21 of those 31 deaths occurred at unlicensed or illegal day cares.
It may be very upsetting for you to learn this, but not all daycares in Indiana are required to be licensed. For many, this simply defies logic. But it is legal.
Another shocking fact about daycares is that not all of them are insured.
RESEARCH YOUR DAYCARE
Children are precious blessings and gifts from God. As parents, our number one job is to protect and love our children. But figuring out how to best protect our children while we are at work can be a struggle for many parents.
If you do not have the ability to care for your children at home, then chances are, you will need to use a daycare.
Did you know that the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) provides a wealth of information about child care providers?
If you are looking for a new daycare provider, or you want to research the daycare provider you are currently using, you should check out the FSSA website. Make sure your friends and family know about it as well!
